Why did my hamster suddenly die?

Question

My hamster Nina just died. I just went to go check on her before I went to sleep and she was sitting on her wheel not moving. Her eyes are wide open. I thought it was abnormal, so I kind of moved to cage to see if she would start to move. She didn't. I'm pretty sure she is dead because I have been watching her and nothing it happening. I'm really upset, she was my graduating present and I love her so much. I feed her and give her fresh water every day. I also cuddle her and play with her every day. She was always so friendly and sweet. She's a teddy bear hamster. I'm just wondering, how come she just died? What could have caused it? She is only ten months old. I'm really upset... also how do I deal with her body? I'm not good with this. She is still sitting on her wheel.

my hampster had to be put to sleep this morning i didnt know what was wrong with him i got him out to play with him and all his insides had come out his bum and the vets didnt tell me y this happend dose any1 know thanks x*x

my hamster bunny just died and she too was less than a year old (can't remember her exact age right now). i took really good care of her and even tho my flats pretty cold, she survived the bitter winter no problem and its been getting warmer so i'm pretty sure that's not the cause. i'm not sure when she died either. i'm pretty sure she was doing acrobatics across the top of her cage before i went to work this afternoon (she was never good at remembering she was supposed to be nocturnal). and yes she's defiantely dead, her eyes are closed, her body's in a state of rigor and she's cold. she also looks really thin which is weird cuz she's eaten all the food i've given her this week and when i was playing with her three days ago she didn't feel skinny or underweight. in fact she's been her usual self right up till the last time i saw her. i don't understand, i had hamsters as a kid and i took better care of my little bunny than i ever did of the ones i had when i was younger and they all made it into their second years. also i'm gonna see if my local vet will dispose of her body for me. i don't have a garden and its just heartbreaking to even consider throwing her in the trash.

I had my hamster die suddenly she died happliy in her sleep she had a good life she was 18months old ive burried her in my garden she has to have something hard heavy on top of the earth where they are burried so it dont attract foxes or cats anything that may want to dig them up =[

i may get another hamster but i dont know if i can go through the loss of any more hammies =[

Well if you did everything you were suppose to do there is not much else you can do. Mine died only at 5 months and i did everything i was suppose to do. Some pet stores will sell you hamsters already with dieses. Ive also heard if you do not wash your hands everytime before and after handling her or him then they can catch a diese. Also make sure when other people like friends and family always wash their hands too after and before handling your hamster.

My hamster wasn't acting right last night, at half 7 he was fine and storing food and when i came in at 12 i wondered why he was lying in the corner out of his bed. I felt him and he wasn't moving. My boyfriend looked and his eyes were wide open and he was rigid but still breathing his last breaths. I'm distraught, i came in this morning and he has deflated to nothing :'-( he was the best hamster you could get and so  much fun. Don't think I could have another one.

I think first of all you should check that the hamsters heart is beating,if it is only faintly wrap her in bedding and cross your fingers,if the heart is not beating,put her in a small box and bury her.

my hamster died realy suddenly,we went to bed and she was ok running around playing,when we woke up I went down stairs to find that I could'nt see her,at first I thought that she had ascaped but when I looked closely I found her dead in her choobing. why?

did you try to touch her and if it is dead you could ever put it in a bag and burry it or throw it away but sometimes hamsters just die because there body is so tiny they just frighten so easilly or it could have had problems from when it was born and you didnt notice anything and it probrably had its eyes open because it died so suddenly sometimes people die with thier eyes open and i am very sorry if your hamster did die i have had 4 that have died.

I also had a 10 month old hamster that died so suddenly. he had no signs of any illnesses but I found him in his bed, normaly when i stroke him he slightly peeks his head out but he didn't. He was a rusian hammie. Also 2 weeks before i saw he was getting very thin and could deeply feel his backbone and ribs.please tell me why, he was deeply close to me and it was just too young.

My daughter's hamster died suddenly tonight. Anyone any ideas what the cause could be?
The hamster seemed lethargic today and didn't eat much today.
She was also lying in her litter tray. She woke up about 8pm, was
scratching about in her cage, then about 15 mins later we noticed
she was not moving inside her climbing tube. She had died inside the tube
near the bottom of it.The hamster was 17 months old (cyrian). After taking her out of
the tube she had small amount of blood around her mouth and
on top of one of her paws (which I think came from her mouth).
She had a wet poo half way out of her bottom, but all other poos
in her cage were not wet ( so don't think 'wet tail' was the cause).
She had plenty of clean water & food in her cage.

Was cause of death a heart attack?
Any answers /suggestions will be appreciated as I would like
to explain to my daughters.

my hamster died in 4 days and when i looked at her she had wet tail so maybe she/he died of wet tail
