Why did my husband and i have dreams like this about his mom?

My husbands mom died 20 months ago at the age of 65 unexpectely...She didnt have any life insurance and was cremated so there was no service and we didnt get to say goodbye to her..We hadnt seen her for about 3 months before her death...Well about a month ago i had a dream that she was knocking on our door calling my husbands name and then recently he had a dream that she was calling his name and another dream where she touched his hand...My mom died 2 months ago at 74 but i havent had any dreams about her yet.

Simply you felt that there is not closer to the death of your mother-in-law.  When the mind does not have difinative closer then it still may want to seem like nothing happened.  I dont know your personal life...but maybe you subconsciously feel guilty for not seeing her before she died, thus also leading to a lack of closer.  

This is not uncommon to dream of a deceased loved one.  the best thing to do is to try to find/make some closer for yourself.
