My kitty was a newborn kitty and her mom left her but i was feeding her with milk (from a can) but then this morning she ate very little and then she started spitting (saliva) all the time and her saliva was kinda heavy. Then she started moaning (like wanting to cry) and i couldn't hear her cry..but she just opened her mouth as if she was crying, but no sound. So i don't know what really happened...i fed her right and she slept good, what could have been the problem that caused her to die.

  1. Did you dilute the canned milk?

It's possible it was so concentrated that her own circulation system tried to dilute it.  That would throw all her blood chemistries off.

Awww, honey, if the umbilical cord was still there, no person or other cat could have saved it.  ONLY the mother would have cared for it.

It wasn't your fault at all.  Blame the owner who had no patience to at least keep it for 6 weeks and then donate or give them away.

    Not your fault.

  2. She may have been gasping for air instead of trying to cry I've had that happen with a couple of hamsters they'd open their mouth real wide then close it and open again...it was heartbreaking to watch but there was nothing we could do.  Maybe it wasn't getting enough air in it's lungs

  3. Newborn kittens are very hard to hand rear, don't blame yourself its really just one of those unfortunate things.

What has happened sounds like the kitten may of aspirated some of the milk, this means that the milk went into the lung, this is quite common in reared kittens as its so hard for them to latch onto a bottle correctly.

  4. If the mother abanded the kitten it must have known that something was wrong with it. My old cat had a litter of eight they all died but two she wasnt feeding them and it turned out they were sick and they died. Just trust an animals entict.   Hoped i helped
