Why did my monroe start to close so quickly?

I just got a job this week. I work in a starbucks under this big furniture firm, so my piercings arent allowed. I figured thatd be cool since my nose has been done for 4 years and my monroe has been done for 2yrs and some change. Well, I took both out on Tuesday night. The nose ring went back in great but the monroe was SO hard to get in today! I had to pop through a layer of skin an its very irritated.

Just curious as to why the monroe went to close SO fast, whereas Im able to leave all my healed piercings like cartlidge, navels, and nose ring out for a day or so

  1. Because the monroe is an oral piercing. Oral tissue closes up so much faster. I'd recommend getting a retainer for it (get a Bioplast one, they're good quality)

  2. the answer is just that a monroe is a different flesh and it heals much quickly. kind of like a tongue piercing. Any flesh in the mouth area heals much quicker. (a tongue piercing can close up in a matter of seconds.)
