Why did my plastic bowl burn and blister in the microwave.?

  1. Microwaves use heat energy to work,so when heat is released an not allowed to escape,ur plastic over expanded especially if it is a soft thin one) an melted.(just like saying putting plastic in oven


  2. Microwaves are used to produce heat.Not heat energy,which is how a regular oven works. Microwaves "excite' molecules which in turn heats the  water molecules in food. It also excites some other molecules, in this case your soft plastic bowl.

    Some plastics can be microwaved while some,like yours, will melt and warp. I don't remember the specific chemistry of the plastics. Most microwaveable items say so on them.

  3. Your plastic bowl is not microwaveable. Check under the bowl for a sign saying if it is microwaveable or not. Personally, I prefer glass bowls or ceramic plates to heat up food in as they dont burn, blister or melt as fast as plastic..^_^  

  4. Cause the plastic bowl has a higher melting point of temperature than the microwave recieves.

  5. because the bowl is not microwave safe.
