We have an above ground pool with a filer and a salt system instead of chlorine and the water has turned green! The filter and salt distributor are both on and have been for some time now. A few days ago stuff in the pool got green stuff and when in the water it appeared hairy, but now its totally green and you cant see through it. Why?

  1. sounds like algae , call the pool store & ask them what to do

  2. add more chlorine, and run the filter for a few days, no need of buying chemicals. unless after awhile the chlorine doesn't help, then contact someone, but your pool is fine to swim in,just try not to open your eyes under water and you will be fine

  3. you most likely have fishrats in your pool

  4. Then try chlorine

  5. Salt systems creates chlorine through the salt. Chances are you setting wasnt high enough or your salt level was low. It could also be a really dirty filter. You need to shock the pool and brush. Make sure you filter is clean and let the system run until the water clears. Then turn you salt system up to a higher setting. Check your pH and make sure it stays around 7.4.

  6. Theres really no valid substitute for chlorine. Thats why.

  7. You probablly have algae or too little cholrine.

I suggest you hire someone to clean your pool or just clean it yourself by using a water vaccum.

  8. u got algey and u should clean it my pool does that too dont worrie lol ur cute

  9. sounds like algae.  go to your local pool store and don't swim in it.
