  1. Salmah got it pretty much right.

The effect you are experiencing is quite likely spontaneous endorphin release as a result of the ingestion of capsaicin from chilli in Indian food.

Capsaicin is the main active ingredient in chilli that causes the burning sensation.  It is a very powerful and stable alkaloid that acts as an irritant and a metabolic stimulant in humans.  Its effects are not dangerous unless in large enough quantities to cause severe pain (pepper spray or food that is too hot to tolerate).  The other spices in indian food also have a range of traditional effects on welbeing and health.

The human body releases endorphins as a natural pain killer and they can have euphoric effect on some people.  The other primary cause for endorphin rushed production is vigorous exercise (sprinting for example).

If you also experience elevated body tempurature, sweating and accelerated heart rate, you are almost  certainly experiencing capsaicin side effects and the endorphin rush usually follows soon afterwards.

  2. thats becoz indian food is very rich and contain blended almonds, cashews and saffron which are very rich spices!!

    definetly aphrodasiac!

  3. spices probably make you tired.

    =[

  4. Was the food spicy?  The heat of the food could have caused your body to release endorphins if you aren't used to spicy foods.  Endorphins are hormones released by the body when it perceives a "threat" or when you exercise after a certain point.  That is the only thing I can think of that would cause that....I mean unless you had alcohol of some sort with your dinner.

  5. You had a good time.

  6. I often have the same feeling.  I believe all the spices get certain hormones running causing you to feel really calm and kinda heavy.  I love it.

  7. maybe u r not used 2 eating it........indian cuisine consists of a lot of spices...........ur stomach is not used 2 such a thing so maybe ur stomach was upset .....but once u get a habit u wud love it..........the food wich u eat consists of cheese n pepper .....so u may hav felt high

  8. Salmah has echoed the idea that spicy foods cause endorphin realeae, and it is a demonstrated effect n many peopl.  Just getting on of those now!

  9. I eat Indian food a couple times a week and never get a high feeling.

So um I have no idea.

  10. im sure it was the spices b/c when ppl arent really used to eating spicy food they tend to get a sort of dizzy or "high" feeling.
