  1. Panama canal

  2. I'm pretty sure you're talking about the construction of the Panama Canal which was opened in 1914.

  3. Mexico and U.S.A. over land in Texas and California , the U.S.A. stole the land from Mexico .

  4. Geology/Geography: Do you mean the continents of North and South America drifting apart, which are now connected by the countries of Central America? If so, it was WAAAAAAAY before the 1900's... like, MILLIONS of years ago.

Politics: If you mean The Northern/Union states of America and the Southern/Confederate states of America, that took place during The Civil War from 1861 until 1865. (Yes, that was in the 19th Century, but NOT in the 1900's)

    Could you clarify your question?

If you're talking about the continents splitting apart, may I suggest that you do Google searches, separately, for each of the following words: 'Pangaea;' 'Gaia;' Laurasia;' Eurmerica.'

  5. Tons of reasons.  The ones I remember was the north was opposed to slavery and the south was not.  The north wanted to be more nationalized and the south wanted the individual states to have more power.  Those are the main ones i'm pretty sure.

  6. They didn't, not from each other, anyway. They were once part of the supercontinent Pangaea, and split form that about 100 million years ago. When they were part of Pangaea N. America was attached to Europe and Northern Africa and S. America was attached to Southern Africa and Antarctica. The two continents only recently merged by the Panamanian land bridge about 2 million years ago

  7. North and South America are two different continents.  If you mean when did they geographically separate from one another, that's backwards.  They were geographically separated by water until about two million years ago at which time Central America finally finished rising from the sea with the emergence of Panama, the last part of Central America to emerge.

If you mean politically in the 1900s, the truth is they have always been split politically and the 1900s had nothing to do with it.

  8. slavery
