Why did not I hear of any conservative groups tearing apart Denver during the DNC?

Anarchists are people who believe in having no government at all.  Of liberals and conservatives, which group tends to believe in having less government?  

Which group is therefore closest in ideology to the anarchists protesting at the convention?

The article you cited states that "splinter groups" embarked on violent activities.  

I think it is only natural that there should be protests at the RNC considering what the country has suffered for the last nearly 8 years but most of the protestors were peaceful.
