Why did only all my guppies die? Can i get more and when?

The tank was about a month old and they started to die off one by one, swimming on their sides and backs and eventually breathing rate slowed down and they died. Initially i thought it was ammonia poisoning, changed the water and treated the water with finrot medicine and internal bacterial infection medicine but to no avail. However, if it was ammonnia why did it only effect the guppies?

What are some reasons for guppy deaths? I thought they were supposed to be hardy?

They shared the tank with non agressive mollies, 2 gouramies, platies and neons.

Also one platie died after a white blob appeared in place of a missing fin, and now the other platie is getting a whiet mark. One gouramie died after becoming very lethargic... now the other orange gouramie is losing colour and becoming whiter...please help any advice to any of my questions if you can. thanks.

((BUt all the other fish are fine and have been all their lives. I want to be able to add guppies again someday, how long to wait etc what to do?))

Try changing the water or even maybe the tank. You can add guppies whenever you want to, but first get a new environment ready if possible.

i think the white spots probably come from a decease called ick,and fin rot also causes the colors to fade,but the guppies probaly died because the gouramies killed them,you know they are not always gentle they can be aggresive to other fish.

Ok sounds like you happened to get some sick fish and it spreads fast.Some of the meds are not for use with all fish.At this point I would clean the tank and filter put back only the fish that are healthy.The others will probably die anyway.If you can at all keep a hospital tank of a couple gallons for any that get sick in future.Be sure to use water conditioner,I like stress coat or stress zyme.Don't mix meds either.And yes after running your tank a couple of days you can restock the guppies they are hardy but sometimes you just can't save one.Guppies live about 7 years in an aquarium if well cared for.
