  1. This is a result of electrical and magnetic interference caused by lightning. The alternating current supplied to homes is slowed down or stopped when lightning strikes an electrical grid. AC normally operates at 60 Hertz (cycles per second) and 120 Volts, but the electromagnetic interference will pause it.

  2. Probably because a line shorted out somewhere and momentarily dragged down the voltage. Once its fuse disconnect blew, the voltage came back.

The computer didn't go off because it has a certain amount of line tolerance - usually down to 85V - so it won't go into powerfail shutdown.

  3. because the bolt is electricly chraged therefor it draws out other elecrticity causing your lights to dim

  4. uhmm the power is probably going to go out...hasn't that ever happened to you before? Our power goes out all the time when there are thunderstorms...get some candles.

PS: the reason ur light on the computer stayed on is because the cord has a power saver on it. When the power goes out it can damage electronics, so they started to make the power savers for that reason.
