Question:

Why did people forgive Shilpa Shetty when it came to her own racism?

At the time that the whole Big brother thing blew up, with Jade Goody being accused of racism, there was a similar story running with respect to Shilpa Shetty's racism towards black people. It was so odd as at the time, people simply dismissed this and continued to focus on the fact that Shilpa Shetty was being subjected to bullying and or racism.

People on this site have said that karma is the reason why Jade Goody has now been diagnosed with cancer, but by this reasoning the same fate would have befallen Shilpa Shetty.

Why was her racism accepted whilst Jade Goody's comments were elevated to a level of hysteria? Very hypocritical I say.

  1. I don't believe in karma and I don't think anyone ever deserves cancer

    But, to address yoiur question;

goody was bullying, direct and had real - REAL - issues with shilpa shetty's culture and colour - do a bit of research and you can find the actual words that goody used and see them in context

can this be compared to someone laughing at a skit which she was not a part of, and did not direct or create?

when you read a news report, it's always a good idea to read what ISN'T being written... ie, in this case, there are no quotes about what Shetty actually said, or what actions she took, other than 'joked' and 'laughed'

it's equivalent to the reporter saying 'we cant pin anything on her directly, so we'll emphasise the circumstantial evidence'

  2. The answer is simple.

The Lemmimgs in the |Uk are ollowing the liberal pollitically correct line.

It does not matter what a coloured person says about any other race, however, it is totally not the "In Thing" to do for a white person to speak unfavourably about a coloured.

It's called reverse discrimination and it is alive and kicking all over the world.

    EDIT

Crikey, the liberal/pc loonies are out in force this morning.

Look at all those thumbs down.

Have you lot not got multi racial churches to go to?

  3. Double standards, plus Shilpa Shetty is more is more photogenic that Jade Goody

  4. Political Correctness dictates that only white people from western developed democracies, i.e. USA and Western Europe, can be racist.

Action against whites by people of other races cannot be considered racist because they are only reacting to the racism of the white oppressors.

Black/Asian, or other inter-ethnic action cannot be racist because ...... err ...... err.

In simple terms, like everything else in the Politically Correct world, it is a load of rubbish.

RACISM IS NORMAL. We are all genetically programmed to distrust what is different and unfamiliar, to protect what is our own and to resist perceived interlopers. If we did not have these inbuilt drives we would have died out as a species long before modern man came into being.

Is it acceptable in today's world? No. Knowledge and rationality clearly demonstrate that these primitive directives no longer serve a useful purpose and should be resisted.

For some people it is obvious that there is no longer a rational basis for racism and see people as people, irrespective of race. Others, the majority, still feel stirrings of apprehension, particularly on first contact, but maintain sufficient balance and are relaxed enough to interact without friction. A significant minority are locked into these old, irrational fears and this translates into intolerance and hatred.

This is, of course, simplistic and there are other motivations, however the answer lies in education and understanding of what drives people rather than the politically correct claptrap prevalent today.

  5. I agree totally , everything you say makes total sense! it a blatant case of double standards

edit: I agree with you and you have a go at me? why?

  6. The tabloids need something to talk about, but nobody deserves cancer.

  7. jade wasent racist she was ignorant , jades mum is a muslim yet they did not show her praying they showed jerome praying though

    jade is also mixed race

i dont like shilpa one bit not because of her colour or race but because she is an arrogant jumped up woman who thinks she is better than others

big brother was accused of racism many times jade was used as a scapegoat

i hope she gets well soon for her sake and her little boys

  8. I don't think Jade is racist, but I think she had real issues with Shilpa's good looks and her ability to get attention from men. Some women can be real nasty to women who are a lot more attractive than they are.

  9. Cancer is awful to whom it happens too. However as I remember both Jackson and Shilpa called Jade White Trash, however for some reason they were not slated as being racist. It's called double standards! Jade is stupid and ignorant which does not make up for her remarks but Shilpa and Jackson are neither stupid but racist.

  10. i agree both Jerome and shilpa made racist comments such as white trash ,

all jade said was poppadom and the media leaped on it . jade is mixed race herself and has a black father she loves india and has visited many times even doing charity work for the poorest people . jades mum is also a devout muslim

shilpa could not care less about poor people in india . shilpa was an arrogant spiteful woman who actually got booed when she won big brother .nobody has wanted anything more to do with shilpa after the show  as she served her purpose and earned big brother money , big brother is  a big fix

  11. I agree that  Shilpa S****y is a racist too !

But people are too politically correct to say it.

( lets see how many thumbs down I get )

Edit: more thumbs up than thumbs down so far :-)
