Why did people hate jay's treaty?

  1. Because many people felt that Britain was getting away with too much.  They also thought that the US was yielding to the power of Britain, so after the revolution, we were still inferior to them.  Many southern states were also unhappy because they would have to pay a lot of the pre-Revolutionary debt while the northern states would collect payment from the British for the damage they caused to US ships.
