  1. Actually, if you look at the number of "years" that Noah, and  other Old Testament figures supposedly lived, and then divide by the number of moons per year (13) you get some pretty believable ages.  It's possible that "years" was a misstatement.

Don't forget how many times these stories were told orally, then written down in an ancient tongue that nobody speaks, and then translated to Hebrew, then Greek, then Latin, then German, and finally English.  Every time you translate something, it changes as things get "lost in translation."

  2. It would be amazing, if true. It's not true.

  3. Actually, they did NOT live as long as the Old Testament claims!

Many people seem to forget that we have WRITTEN records of the Old Testament age going back to 3300BC....particularly from the Sumerians, Assyrians, Babylonians, Egyptians and Hittites. These were all highly sophisticated, advanced civilisations, with access to better diets and medical care to the Hebrews, who were not so advanced.

They accurately listed their Kings, and how long they lived.....and there is NO record of anyone living until they were 250 etc, its rubbish!

The oldest rulers on record were Rameses 2 of Egypt and Ashur Dan of Assyria, both lived into their 90's.

Kings and noblemen lived longer than peasants in those days, even amone Kings of the ancient world, most seemed to live between their 50's and 70's....for the average person, it was often much lower.

Not everything in the Bible, particularly the Old Testament is meant to be taken Literally.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT - Much of the Old Testament was originally Writen in Aramaic. It is NOT a dead language. It is my mother tongue. It has up to 1 million speakers, mainly Assyrian christians.

  4. It's fiction, not true.

  5. Much of what is in the bible is symbolic: It has a meaning but not the literal meaning modern, materialistic people ascribe to it.  The great ages given to some biblical characters could have been an indication of how venerated they were, how important they were etc.

  6. They're legendary figures so their longevity is somewhat exaggerated.  No-one really lived as long as people like Moses are claimed to in the Bible.

  7. They were cat years and had nine lives.

  8. adam and eve were perfect until they rebelled and because of sin(which means falling short of the mark)they very slowly began to deteriate and eventually died, humans were actually designed to live forever.Over long eons of time the human creature has moved further and further away from original perfection hence the life-span getting shorter and shorter. Moses wrote about his people living 3score year and ten so it seems that we've levelled off at an average of about 70 yrs.
