Why did people let the Olympics be held in china

well they seem to be having a lot of problems with human rights so why would we let a country that doesn't give there people freedom be the place for the Olympics, I heard they put up walls so visitors cant see the poor people and tear down there houses.

China is showing their wealth. They are Communist and they can do what they please.

The people DIDN'T let the olympics be held in China. There were thousands of protests. Just the same, China is a country, and we must accept that they'll get to hold the olympics at least once. Remember, as a free nation, we cannot judge by race or beliefs, so we must include them as well.

China thinks now the world accepts them. I think it was a terrible decision to allow them to have the games. The real deal is, China helped with the North Korea situation with regards to the nuke matter. It's payola.
