  1. They lost THEIR jobs probably because they didn't know the difference between THEIR and THERE.  They also probably didn't know they were supposed to capitalize Great Depression.  The Great Depression occurred after the stock market crash of 1929. Start with that and do your own homework.

  2. There was simply no money to pay people.  So there were no jobs to be had, for the most part.

  3. There were lots of reasons for the great depression but the stock market crash was only a symptom. Rich people who had stocks lost everything when the market crashed. They lost their businesses where many people were employed, so they had no jobs. And, the business people who didn't have stock lost customers and in turn money because no one could afford to buy thier products. So they couldn't hire many employees either.... its cycle.

  4. Money in bank accounts was not federally protected. Therefore, many business owners lost their money. They couldn't pay for operating costs, supplies, and their employees' wages.  They also lost their retirement funds and ability to pay their personal bills.

Since the stock market crashed, both large and small companies were affected. So, just going out looking for a new job was not an option.   Any rainy day funds average people had set up disappeared when the banks shut.

A lot of new jobs were paid under the table.  Therefore, the people were not paying taxes. Without tax revenue, the government couldn't provide a lot of services.  FDR gets a lot of the credit by liberals for jumpstarting the economy with his New Deal projects. WWII is what really created jobs and pulled us out of the slump.
