we developed and progressed forward with technology, factories and vehicles became more widely used etc.. over time we started to see problems with pollution and realised what we were doing to the planet.. it's too late now but even if everybody started helping and stopped all our pollution, global warming would still occur, maybe just delayed a bit...

the earth sort of has it's own seasons which we could never try to stop, for example the ice age and global warming.. if we didnt exist it'd still happen so stop worrying yourself about it and just live a bit

Green house gases are a by-product of getting other things we want.  The industrial revolution probably wasn't started by somebody who was sick of being cold on a planetary scale, tho' if they knew at the time the Brits might've considered it for the Northwest passage to China.......

were it not for green house gasses, the temperature average on earth would be below zero.

People started using coal and so forth several centurues ago to make heat.

Modernly, a better question is why don't we stop? The answer is that evil rich jerks keep making money off of it, and propaganda wars are conducted against the alternatives.

No one really started. From what i understand, there were always green house gases in the atmosphere, just different levels of gases then we have now. We have only just started to use more fossil fuels and the level of green house gases has risen.

You have to have some level of green house gases to create a balenced atmosphere.
