they made it 2 b burried inside it coz they beleived that there is something called(the non ending life after death) and that they thought that there pyramids r gonna b there second home so they had taken all what they need with them (food ..jewelerries...water .. etc) and then they had taken care about building a good grave 4 them even more than there own home

the answers here are right. but for sansan's one: Other people or slaves were never buried with pharoahs or any other person, no one was buried alive in egypt. and no one was killed to be buried with pharoahs, you wont find anyone buried with pharoahs it is just ****. just like stupid people who say that real girls was thrown in the nile to celebrate the flood, although, woody dolls was only thrown.

Egyptians believed in the "afterlife".  Pyramids we built to house the Pharoah and all the he would need in his afterlife such a chariots, gold, jewelry, food, etc. even slaves.  All slaves and some personal attendants were buried alive with the Pharoah.
