for physics, we had to do an experiment about evaporation.

i chose to do two experiments: one including temperature range, and one including evaporation from different types of materials.

the temperature one went fine, but i have a problem with the one with materials.

i made sure it was a fair test, using the same amount of water, materials with the same area... i weighed each material before the evaporation process and after the evaporation process.

i expected polyester to have the highest rate of evaporation, but it had the lowest rate of evaporation - zero! i even used two types of polyester, and they both had very low rates of evaporation.

towel had the highest rate of evaporation....

but i don't understand how or why this happened!

i guess i did something wrong when doing the experiment...

what could have i done wrong?

and why was the rate of evaporation of towel so high? do you think that it's possible that it was a poly towel? i just got it from a box of scraps our teacher gave
