Why did scientists call interphase the resting phase?

  1. Beacause the cell isn't really doing anything except growing.


  2. interphase is often calledas the resting phase, not because its resting or doing nothing in this particular phase, but this is when the cell is preparing itself for mitosis or meiosis. it is during this phase in which cells undrgoes lot of protein synthesis and the cell grows in preparation for mitosis or meiosis

  3. Because the nucleus is in resting phase. It does not divide.  But it is active in other functions.  There is no much happening with the cell division.
