For that very reason, i.e., because it was a logo.  Obama has been using a plane that belonged to North American Airlines, whose logo is a waving American flag.  When Obama became the presumptive Democratic nominee, his campaign refurbished the plane, replacing the NAA markings with ones identifying the plane as belonging to the Obama campaign.  This included replacing the NAA logo on the tail with the Obama campaign logo, which is a sun rising over a field of red and white stripes, reminiscent of the ones on the American flag (see link).

This was not some slighting of the flag, but simply a replacement of one logo with another.  If anything, people should be upset with the airline for using the flag as its logo.  At any rate, this kind of marking of one's plane or bus with symbols of one's campaign is common among candidates, including McCain.

Listen even our allies can't stand our Government anymore. Why not just paint a Bulls Eye on the plane. Would you feel safe flying with a giant American Flag painted on your travel jet?

Which jet, if you mean the one he used in Berlin it was not an American plane so would not have the US flag on it.

Humm, why did he change his presidential looking seal? He is trying to change the symbols of america to suit himself.
