Why did some ancient countries ride chariots and not the horse itself?

  1. probably cuz the chariot was more confortable than riding the horse


  2. Chariots often had an archer as well as the driver and many had knives attached to to wheels to cut up the opposing infantry.. It could be regarded as an early form of tank which went out of fashion when the enemy changed their arms or strategy.

  3. Only the wealthy did. It was so they didn't touch animals. It was basically a way to show wealth. Kind of like riding a Lexus compared to a Ford. People still rode the horse, just not the king.

  4. have you tried to ride a horse for a long period of time? it hurts. I guess it's also the difference between a toyota and a bmw. the almighty dollar!!
