Question:

Why did that egg have a hard yolk when I cracked it?

I cracked an egg for brownies last night...before it hit the bowl (thank goodness!) I noticed the white was a milky yellow color....and when I dumped the egg in the sink, the yolk was hard and gel-like...and darker yellow. There was no green, so I didn't think it was rotten, but maybe it was beginning to rot? Does anyone know what could've caused this? It was from the same batch as all my other eggs, which seem to be fine.

  1. Sounds like you got a real old one there.  Thank goodness you didn't crack it into the brownie mix.

  2. ewwww sounds like a bad one.. I watched a news special a few months back about some chains that will combined cartons, (like when some of them crack) and then put  a good carton back on the shelf...

  3. It must have been bad. Your lucky you didn't eat it. Ick.
