  2. It didn't really last 116 years either there were several brief periods of peace and two longer ones. The actual time they fought in the war was 81 years. A guess is that they historians decided that 100 years was a good number to balance the 116 with the 81 at. It sure sounds better (and easier) than 116 year war with the exceptions of these years and those years and that moment and ...
