Why did the 2nd Round of the NHL Draft have more picks?

Question

The 2nd round of the NHL Draft seemingly had 31 picks instead of 30. What was the reason for this?

1st round - 1-30

2nd round- 31-61?

3rd round- 62-91

Pheonix was give a compensatory pick because a player they had drafted previously( can't remember the name) decided not to sign with them after completing his NCAA college career, becoming a free agent instead. So the were awarded an extra pick to make up for this.

idkk i was wondering the same thing..all the rounds had 30 picks except for the 2nd round.

The 35th pick was a compensatory pick awarded to Phoenix for them being unable ti sign a first round pick from a previous draft (Blake Wheeler in this case)
