  1. Partially A, but mostly C

  2. I'd have to say A,B,and C

  3. Trick question.  A,B, and C.

  4. It was not the "Allies", first of all because that would include UK and France and both were in ruins, and both ARE in Europe, and both were in need. And secondly because the Soviet Union was also an ally, as it was Brazil, for instance, along with about 50 more countries or so. Thus your question doesn't make any sense, even if by "Allies" you just mean the western allies. And also, because there were two Europes, basically, the one meant to be democratic, and the one meant to be socialist. And both Europes received a different kind of help, from the US, and from the Soviets.

The question should be something like ; Why did the US help european democratic nations, Japan, and other countries, rebuild after WWII?

And Old Lady's probably got the best answer.

  5. I was always under the assumption that war was to destroy your opponent. Then take advantage of their weakness.

  6. None of the above. Their reason was more economics-driven than philathropic or political. If they didn't help to rebuild both Europe and Japan, they would lose potential trading partners and both Europe and Japan were important as players in world trade.

  7. C.  By rebuilding them, the US hoped to provide a bulwark against the extension of Communism, which they understood would grow easily in a poor, battered country with no economy.

  8. C is the closest, but really they helped rebuild in order to prevent the conditions that existed after WW1, which allowed nutcases like Hitler to rise to power. They did it so Germany and Japan would be willing allies instead of a bitter, conquered people. The prevention of communist expansion just made it all that much more important.

  9. B

they also wanted to ensure that there were no hard feelings after the war. in world war 1 the central forces told italy and japan that they would give them land in return for aid during the war. they didnt uphold these promises and they in turn sided with the axis during world war two

  10. Mainly C, under the guise of B.
