Because they obtained better food sources such as farming corn, beans, squash, potatoes, yams and many other crops all throughout the Americas. Thus, allowing them a larger population and they didnt need to migrate anymore. They started Civilization in the Mississippi valley, Meso-America and the Andes. The Amazon was about to coalesce into a civilization until the arrival of the Portuguese.

because they needed new land that was un occupied. that basically why all civilisations spread.

The original indigenous people of North America were by all evidence available, hunter gatherers.  Do you refer to The Toltec, Maya, Aztec, Inca, Chan Chan, The indigenous people of North and South America do not necessarily have the same origins.

There are specific definitions for civilization, and  (not meaning to be disrepectful) the type settlements that they did create or nomadic life-style don't meet these definitions.  They would be better characterized as barbaric in their level of sophistication.

chasing wooly mammoths across the bering straight ice bridge brought most of us to america.  "Why" does anyone 'start' a civilization doesn't make sense.  People just are prone to advance themselves, make their lives better, live more 'comfortably' as it were.....no matter what location on the planet.
