Why did the British and the American colonial subjects win control of North America instead of France?

This question seems to have a lot to it and if someone could explain it to me I think it would really help. It just seems like a really loaded question and I'm overwhelmed by it.

If your talking about the French and Indian War then we kept control of North America because that's where the war was fought. The dispute was over who owned the land in North America and as the winners, the British and their colonies kept possession.

By winning the French and Indian War (or Seven Years War as it was known in Europe).
