  1. It was a confrontation between USA,the Soviet Union and Cuba in October 1962, during the Cold War period. It started when the United States discovered that the Cuban and the Soviet government placed nuclear missiles in Cuba. Cuba being so near the United States cause the US government to act decisively against disarming the Cubans or faced with several courses of action.

    --Do nothing.
--Use diplomatic pressure to get the Soviet Union to remove the missiles.
--An air attack on the missiles.
    --A full military invasion.
    --The naval blockade of Cuba.

Eventually Kennedy decide to initiate a Naval blockade in Cuba and made an offer not to invade if the missiles are removed. This is also his message for the Soviets who then agreed to dismantle their installations in and remove the missiles as long as the US will not invade Cuba. However, US and Soviets had another agreement in Europe. Khrushchev and the Soviets also wanted US missiles in Italy to be removed as well in exchange and the US agreed to this.
