  1. Cheney is a draft dodger.

  2. How about a reference?

    This claim smells like BS.

  3. Cause he's d**k Cheney, I would have thought that was reason enough!

  4. I read the link, even though it's a blog. The security detail apparently wanted everyone to arrive two hours early for the event in order to carry out proper security. I attended a campaign event here in Las Vegas which featured the Vice President as the speaker. Had to arrive two hour early for security checks. Same for the appearance of Mrs. Bush in Henderson in 2004 and the President in the same year at the Cox Pavillion on the UNLV campus.

Because of the requirements for its members to  have access to sanitary facilities which accommodate handicapped people during this long wait, DAV thought this arrangement wouldn't work.

Simple and straightforward. But, I doubt that any of the pundits and "experts" who will pontificate on this on the various cable TV news' verbal slugfests will ever mention the security requirement to have all troops remove the ammunition from their weapons when President Clinton paid a visit to them in Bosnia.

  5. Here's the real reason they didn't want a big d**k in the room

  6. If you read the article you get this answer: "...that the Veep tried to force the Disabled American Veterans membership to get into their Las Vegas convention hall by 6:30 a.m., two hours before his scheduled speech next month. That upset the vets because there are no bathrooms in the hall and it was viewed as an unreasonable security request for the elderly and injured. So they rescinded the invite."

Reading for comprehension is so very important!

  7. maybe because he took 5 student deferrments during the Vietnam War

  8. Because the DAV wouldn't comply with the security demands of the secret service.
