The territory occupied by poland just before the germans invaded was at some point of time before part of germany and part of russia. The germans invaded poland after they struck an accord with the russians on how it will be divided between the two nations. The goal of the germans was to exapnd their border and boost their numbers, while propogating the \"endless war\" that was part of their ideology.
