  1. Historically, they didn't.

Perhaps you are trying to make a point or expressing a thought incorrectly and your meaning and intention is being lost.

Please, cite your references, historical sources, etc. for the basis of your claim.

    Be well.

  2. Did they?!

  3. The standard theory is that the cultural predecessors of the greeks (the indo-arayans) and Indians were the same. It is apparent from linguistic similarities that the Indian language is a recent development of the languge that lead to greek

    eg  Sanskrit           latin            eng

           pitar              pater           father

        bhrater             frater             brother

    asti              est          is

common and important words hardly change  the word sound   gul . gol had been associated with gold for millenia.

the language of the base group -perhaps the "beaker people" as we also share a base 10 counting system as well as language roots. The indian language didn't change as much due to large written culture and geographic stability and advanced culture hich meant invaders adoptrd their culture, not other way around. it appears the the were only a few languages bertween ghat and the root languge. The gods and such are all interchangable between Hittite  sumerian etc due to root culture dispersal and the morphing of individual tribal gods into larger picture of what the sun god is - eg the slight difference between roman and greek gods.

PS the Indian culture invented the most powerful intellectual tool ever - nothing! the invention of the zero as a concept enabled place value arithmatic- try adding ( let alone multiplying) roman numerals sometime!

  4. They didn't.The Christian West did, however, get their mathematical symbols from Indian via the Arabs. This happened long after the demise of both the Greeks and Romans. The only real contact between Indian and the Greeks happened during the time of Alexander the Great when he tried to conquer Indian. His invasion of India was quickly forgotten in India and made no lasting impression on the history of the West.

  5. In a word- It was around and in use at the time. So people use what is handy.
