  1. I would say because a war with Russia would be a conventional war. Which means planes bombing them, tanks coming after them, and lots of foot troops shooting at them. And sense they are Marines they know they will just keep on fighting forward while this is all happening.

That's why the Marines say "Death Before Dishonor" and that's why others call them "Devil Dogs", they just keep on coming.

  2. Well I'm sure most don't want to go to war again. Look at the most recent polls among soldiers in Iraq. 70% are against the Republicans bush mcbush and the war.

  3. Have you ever had your plate full, then someone plops more on it?

The marines weren't "scared," they were just realizing the importance of the situation.  Marines are never "scared."

Resources are spread very thin right now.  Too many men haven't seen their families in a long time.  Another possible war front means that it could be even longer before they see their families. We aren't reinstating the draft (and hopefully we never will), which means that the few and the proud that are in right now are all that we've got.  Recruitment numbers are down.

A marine is never afraid to fight for his country.  Sometimes though, the odds and amount of work to be done does make ones eyes open wide.

What is going on in Georgia is very important.  The Marines you saw just appreciated the gravity of the situation.  I'd say the eyes on the majority of people who lived through the cold war also widened when they heard what was happening in Georgia.  Considering the timeline of the "civilized" world it really wasn't that long ago that Russia and the US were stuck in a tense stalemate.  Every day we knew that we could go to war with them.  Everyone knew about the "button pushing" that could end the world...

  4. If you were a Marine and you just got home from Iraq and you CO said "We going back to war", How would you feel?

  5. I suppose you wouldn't fear the prospect of retuning to war?????  Don't think for even one minute that Iraq wasn't "easy" to defeat.

  6. It was not fear they were just ticked they had one more enemy to protect your POS self from.
