Why did the NHL raise the salary cap to 56 million for this coming season?

  2. Lity is correct it is a % of revenue.  My gut tells me 56% - so that would mean avg revenues of 100M per club or 3 Billion overall.

  3. I would pay 56 million dollars to have Mike Milbury permanently removed from my television.

  4. The revenue that the NHL is bringing in has increased therefore they can add more money to the salary cap... Plus the more money they have on the cap the more talented the teams will get therefore it will also bring in more money to watch a more talented team out there!

  5. Over the last month the NHLPA and the NHL have used an independent auditor to accurately determine league revenues.  The players are guaranteed a minimum percentage of that revenue.  It actually comes out to $56.1MM (up from $50.3MM this year) but they settled on $56MM
