Why did the Olympic divers have such teensy towels?

They were smaller than guest towels in a bathroom.

  1. They aren't drying themselves off as you would after a shower. The towels are just to wipe down their hands and face. They hop into the showers to keep warm between dives, but they don't dry off until they are finished their dives and leave the competition area for the shower and dressing room. Then they use a larger towel.  


  2. OMG I was wondering the same thing, also why would they take the towels in the showers with them, put it around their neck and the whole towel would get wet! I was like huh?

  3. I believe the towels they use are called Sammies, or Shammies? They're super absorbent towels that only take a few wrings to get rid of all the water. I guess it's a quick way for the divers to get dry after each dive.

  4. Divers mostly use the towel for their faces and eyes and like to keep their body wet to easy the shock to the body for their next dive...so they don't need a huge towel.

  5. divers like them small.
