Why did the Russians start the 2 revolution with the Zar?

I've been reading this book angels on the square and I'm still stuck on why the Russians hated Nicholas the second.

  1. In 1915, the Duma, or Russian parliament was suspended, angering the middle and lower classes. Also, Russia was experiencing one military defeat after another (WWI). And to top it off, there were extreme food shortages. It was actually the food riots that ignited the revolution.

  2. The populace felt he was out of touch with their day to day lives. If you look up Rasputin, you'll better understand much of the turmoil of the time.  Russia has paid the price and continues to do so, for destroying their ruling royal family, children and all, in an episode of slaughter.
