  1. To end the war and to avoid having to make a land invasion that would have put hundreds of thousands of American soldiers in danger.

  2. Find out facts about the second world war. Your question is part of that great war.

  3. To test there new toys and gain power in the world

  4. kinda like what the guy before said to gain power

  5. It wasn't nearly as arbitrary as your question makes it sound.  It gets fairly complicated.  Here's a link to information on World War ll.  Check out the "external links" at the bottom of the page.  Good Luck!

P.S. You're bound to hear a lot of anti-American crud from people who know nothing about history.  There's a lot more to World War ll than Pearl Harbor and the atomic bomb.  Don't let anyone else do your thinking for you.

  6. Believe it or not, it was actually a lot less deadly than a land invasion would've been. More people would've died, both on the American and Japanese side, if we had invaded by land instead of dropping a bomb on two cities. It was actually in both of the country's best interest... Japan wasn't going to quit without a fight.
