So as a final F-U to Britain after we (I am American) beat their butts in the revolution we decided that we would travel on the opposite side of the road(I know that cars did exist back then but there were horses, and people tend to talk on the side they drive as well)?

  1. Britian is not the mother country.  Russia is.  Britian can suck it.

  2. Right from the beginning we wanted to be different from England. We didn't want in any way to be like them. That's one reason we broke away from them. Cherio

  3. I don't know, but it would also be nice to find out why we discovered basic dentistry and personal hygiene and they didn't.

  4. the US doesn't follow other countries....

    i can't wait to drive!!!

  5. The U.S. wanted to be different from the U.K. in every way they could. Besides forming a new country and government, they put cars on the right side of the road. Buttons and holes on shirts are also on the opposite sides in the U.S.

  6. Because we drive on the right side of the road not the wrong side like you folks do. The right side is the right side not the left side, oh and the steering wheel, stop putting that on the passenger side of the car.

  7. Well, we (US) were pretty much driving first so I would ask why they didn't follow us?

  8. News flash, MOST countries drive on the right, not just the US.  Britain and a very few other places drive on the left.
