Why did the USA Marines run away in Georgia when Russia attacked?

Marines were training the Georgian military.

They were simply trainers, and it would've caused Bush a lot of grief. The whole world ultimately realizes that Georgia attacked S.O. backed by US. That would've been clear confirmation.

Then why would US marines give up their lives for Georgia. Russian army is not Iraq. It would've brought a lot of problems internationally as well.

Being combat ready and just there doing something are two differant things

However if they chose to stand and fight the international embarassment of the head line

I bet I know who you are and I doubt very much that the Marines "ran" anywhere. They probably were ordered to withdraw so a international incident wouldn't occur. I can't believe that someone who wants the war in IRAQ done with would say that about the US Marine Corps. Russian ideology hasn't changed( believe me) and they will ultimately cause the world more grief. If they really push it, I'm sure that the US Armed Forces will be there once again saving someones butt who really doesn't appreciate the sacrifice our men and women make on the worlds behalf. I only pray for the sake of mankind that it doesn't turn into Armageddon. God bless the US and its military.

They we're not sent to fight, its now up to George Bush to react, its like they cannot fight with their command by their leader, however they should not hath fear, Russia fears America.
