I mean seriously did they think by acquiring him he was the final piece to the puzzle? He'll be lucky to hit.240 for them with 8 homers?!?!

  1. Because.. they just wanted a good center fielder.. i think

  2. I thought this was a wired trade

I did not make sense, I have ran through my head menny times and I still say "I dont Get It"

  3. he's a gold glover center fielder and they are trying to win the AL central... obviously they believe he can still perform like he has in years past, otherwise the trade wouldn't have happened

  4. I doubt Kenny Williams thought he was the final piece of the puzzle.  Griffey was more like a Plan C.  He's Paul Konerko insurance.  If Konerko can't hit his weight, Swisher moves to 1B, and opens up a Griffey/B. Anderson RHP vs. LHP platoon.  It's not the best solution, but otherwise B. Anderson would be full time.

This trade also gives Ozzie the chance to rest aging hitters like Thome, Konerko, and Griffey more often down the stretch.
