  1. Because - - - - THEY ARE.

But my prejudice aside (my PUMA CAT rules) there is a logical reason.

Grain!!!  The Egyptians were among the earliest people to store grain in buildings and soon there were mice!!!  Mice defecate while they eat so not only do they eat grain but what grain they leave behind gets polluted from stuff spewing from their behinds.  Those crunchy brown things are not raisienettes!!

Cats naturally kill & consume mice and soon the sight of cats prowling granaries in pursuit of Mice made people happy & appreciative.  Hence Holy Cats came into being!!!!!

    Peace///////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\...

  2. They also thought packing a crypt with 'things' for the afterlife was beneficial. Their logic is based on sentiment and myths.

Modern experts claim to know the whys and hows of that civilization, but when it comes down to it, their deductions are flawed at best. I guess you had to be there...

My guess is that they thought the mysterious and elegant moves of the cat was to be appreciated.
