  1. Tea and the profit from it were the primary reasons, naval ports were a secondary reason.  I also think cotton from India became much more important during the American civil war, but the Brits were already in India for a century by then.

    My assumptions only.


  2. domination of india made britain hugely rich and powerfull, countries have been doing that too eachother since time began, and will continue to do so in one way or another for a very long time.

    if india had been a united country and as powerfull as britain was, and britain had been fractured and weak, then india would have done it to britain.
