Question:

Why did the dog bite me?

I was walking into a pet store and I saw that a woman and her dog were walking out, so I kept my distance, but the dog walked right up to me and bit my wrist. The woman told her dog to "come on", and they left without even an apology (which I thought was very rude). It didn't hurt, and the dog didn't seem vicious, but I'm very confused as to why it bit me.

Some of my friends and I have also experienced the same thing with another friend's dog.

Neither of these dogs are puppies, so I wouldn't have expected that behavior from either of them.

Any answers would be great.

Thanks!

  1. Sometimes dogs play with their mouths.   Maybe he wanted to play.   IF it wasn't a viscous bite, that's what I would assume.

  2. because he wasn't properly trained! I wouldn't go so far as to suggest it was a "play bite" You never know with animals

  3. when puppies are excited they nip and they can't help it. or maybe the owner had mistreated it to make it vicious

  4. It was definitely a playful bite. Don't worry, dogs do that all the time. It has happened to me before. The dog is usually trying to say,"You seem like fun! Lets go play!"

Even if it was a vicious dog who really wanted to bite you, it's over now, so forget about it. Some dogs have been abused before and are too over protected of their owners. I have the same problem with my dog.

And no matter if it was a playful bite or a vicious bite, the lady should have said sorry......

  5. Maybe it meant to l**k you! I probably wasn't really a bite. Was it more like a l**k? My dog does that all the time! :) x
