What was the disadvantage of them it seems that they could easily fly with them(apart from aerodynamic functions)

  1. As Scales of dinosaurs and the feathers of birds as well as hair from mammals are essentially made out of the same material, but are structured differently. Feathers could have formed from a mutation in the gene that causes certain cells to rearrange themselves or started performing other tasks. And why feathery wings became in existence. Feathers in general were better at keeping a body warm, (i don't know the story of the climate at the time, but i think the planet was cooling down) over time the movement of the arms while running caused the little dinosaur to become airlifted.

Feathers did not evolve from bats, as bats are mammals they had already developed hair follicles, so their was no need for them to develop feathers as they had already had insulation to keep them warm. And hair if u haven't noticed isn't really a good material to cause uplift.
