  1. square enix wanted to increase sales. its all about the money. which is a shame. all gaming consoles should have there own exlusive games but because these companies want more and more money, we don't really see great exclusives anymore. see many people have xbox's while there aren't as many ps3 owners. if sony would have sold more ps3's, it would not have come to xbox

  2. Final Fantasy XIII is only coming to North America for the Xbox 360-in Japan, it's still a PS3 exclusive.  Fanboys are going to whine and complain, but honestly, this is only helping fans of the series-example being, people who might not have had a chance to experience it (e.g. Xbox 360 owners-let's face it: a PS3 w/all the bells and whistles isn't cheap!) are going to get the chance to experience this phenomenal series.  SquareEnix, in turn, makes more money, allowing them to put more cash into future titles.

People complain about multi-platform titles, but truth be told, this is the future of the industry as far as second and third party developers/publishers go.  This is the video game BUSINESS-meaning, the whole purpose is to generate money.  If you had the chance to make 30 million by releasing your game on console A only, but the chance to double that cash flow by releasing the same title on two consoles, which would you choose?  As much as people are going to whine about it, this is simply smart business.  IMO what's going to sell the next generation of consoles (e.g. PS4, next Xbox, etc) is going to be tech specs and first party games.
