I phoned to report my sons bike stolen from our garden but the insurance company wanted me to contact the police for a report they never did this before. Is there a specific reason? i have the crime number but they seem to need a specific police written report. Is this standard practice now?

  1. Yes it is normal cox otherwise people would claim a load of things that never existed in the first place on the insurance. Going through a police report reduced the number of people making false claims

  2. You have to file a police report so that the insurance company isn't dealing out buckets of money to scam artists. Otherwise everyone would be paying out a boatload more in insurance premiums because.......hey! wait a minute! I know I had my classic all original 1961 Ferrari 250GT California sitting right here. Guess I better call my insurance agent. Gee, hope they don't want a police report.

Quick....does anyone know the movie that the car comes from?

  3. Yes, filing a report is truth that it happened.  No one would file a false claim

  4. It is pretty much standard practice now. That way if a person just claimed something as stolen they can go after them later. If the property shows up later they can go after the person who stole it. They just want some proof showing that you took the extra step...... and certify that it was indeed stolen.

But consider the cost of the bike. If you later have to make a claim for something much bigger it would be your second. Then your insurance rates can rise far more than the cost of a bike..... for a great deal of time.

  5. So you don't get away w/ filing a false claim.

  6. I am no gonna say I am one hundred sure about it.Besides it really depends on the personal feelings.SO it would better for you to find yourself. Here is a good resource.

  7. You don't say what country you are in. if you are in the UK, it sounds normal. Usually a crime no. would do it but maybe you've had a few things going missing and they're getting sus! If the Police didn't have a suspect, they wouldn't be able to write them much of a report, and they'd have to pay to see one, so they must be sus!
