Why did the magnesium ribbon ignite when it came into contact with the flame?

  1. Magnesium has an Autoignition Temperature of 472.8 deg C,

    it is just another combustable material, that was heated hot enough too catch on fire

    the burner's temp is much hotter than 472.8 deg C
