& then she just left? I'm 24, & I have a college degree. She gave me NO warning that she was coming over. Plus, all I was doing was reorganizing papers. I was in the middle of cleaning, so OF COURSE papers will be all over the place!

But why did she do this? Why are mental health professionals so intrusive in my life? I can't even get a boyfriend.

  1. I don't quite understand why she has a say in whether or not you are allowed to have a BF.. at age 24 no matter if you are being monitored on occasion by this nurse due to some condition you suffer from. That is not her business it might even help you if you dated.. go out and have a hobby.. join a club. She has no reason to tell you what your house should look like .. unless she is a perfectionist and she would say the same to everyone whose house looks untidy or she felt the need to motivate you to do something.. maybe she thinks if you clean up or tidy up your mind is kept busy and she mentioned it for that reason.. if you had not been home if she comes unannounced she would have had to try again... xx Maybe you have a condition where you need to be encouraged to do things.  I don't necessarily mean clean your house. but maybe you lack motivation in general and that's  why she said it???

  2. It depends on the role these professionals play in your life. Have you been hospitalized for a mental illness before? It could be mandatory follow-up check-ups. You should really just call the hospital, and ask them.

  3. They don't just pop up unless they are alerted to a situation.  Someone close to you may have gotten worried and put in a confidential call for a 'wellness check'.  It was not a social call, so of course they would not give you prior warning that they are coming, they want to see how you actually live day-to-day.

You must ask yourself why ANY mental health professional made a call to your house unless someone felt there was a need.  This also has no bearing on you getting a boyfriend.

  4. It sounds like they are concerned about you. It is hard to give a better answer with limited information. I would take it as they are concerned. If they didn't care then they wouldn't have come.
