We named him Peenith--it means "brave warrior" in my culture. The nurse and doctor were laughing about it, and I was very offended.

  1. I would picket the hospital. Make a sign that says "They laughed at my Peenith" and walk around in front of the hospital holding your sign. That oughta get the point across.

  2. For the love of god.....school hasn't started YET?????

  3. Ummmm because it sounds like p***s.

  4. He's gonna have to be brave warrior with that name for sure. It  means p***s to the nth degree in my culture.

  5. People, don't you realize this guy probably just has a day off from 2nd grade and is bored?  He's asked multiple questions about "Peenith" and also wants to name his daughter Cholera.  This still made me laugh though. :P

  6. Lol, thanks, that made me laugh.

Definitely assuming that it was supposed to-

    If not, sorry.  lol.

  7. it really sound alot like p***s and that is just kinda funny im sorry

  8. In America I think almost everyone is going to laugh because it does sound like p***s. I'm sorry but it's the truth, when you tell people they may even think that you are joking and he really has a different name. I don't know what your culture is but even if you explain it to people they will still laugh. Your child will be teased A Lot by other kids, and even some adults, I'm sorry but unless you change his name it Will happen.

  9. You can find rude people everywhere dear. I don't think that anybody should laugh at a newborn for any reason. However, if some people say that it may sound like p***s (I am not a native English speaker to tell you my opinion), you could always use a nickname (like Peen for example).

  10. Are you sure it doesn't mean "Purple-headed Warrior"?

  11. LOL. Seriously? You are just trolling around. You know what it sounds like.

  12. That must have been really sad for you.  Maybe consider calling him by his middle name, however, just to prevent more or the same from occurring.

  13. I understand why you feel offended but I must say try to shortan it up some way and call him by that.  Only if your not worried about let your child know that the name is ment for something. Do let people know it bothers you.  But I would be more woried about that child more that what others think because what will happen when he comes home from school and crying cause he was made fun of that day.  I agree I would start calling him by his first name.

  14. omg i laughed too......sorry! it does sound like p***s...like youre saying it with a lisp...

  15. It sounds like a g*y man with a lisp trying to say p***s.  That poor child is going to get so much c**p when he gets older.. Sorry but that's a terrible name

  16. Jellybean (this is what the spell checker suggested)-- I <3 you! That was HILARIOUS!

Slaps, I think you should go with what Harley said on this one-- call him Extension to avoid embarassment or what the foreign guy said, Peen would be very nice as well!

  17. Well, probably because it sounds like someone saying "p***s" with a speech impediment!  Your son is going to get made fun of, I'm sorry.

  18. oh no you weren't offended come on you know it's p***s with a lisp...get used to it though people are going to be laughing at that child all his life!!!

  19. Change the name to something else. Like Ian. Ian is a nice name.

  20. well think about it for a second pee- nith mabye thay were imature  and thought it was funny

  21. ok... i didnt really laugh... until i read Betwix's answer!!! LMAO

Seriously tho... it may be symbolic but its not a great name for our culture. If you havent registered your baby yet you shoudl change it, maybe consider using this for his middle name instead of his first.

  22. Well, when you came up with the name did you ever think about the child being teased. It might mean "brave warrior" but other children are not going to care what it means only how it sounds. Maybe you could start calling him by his middle name. I think that nurse and doctor thought that you were joking.

  23. ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG THAT'S HILARIOUS!!!!!  THANK YOU...I HAD A ROUGH NIGHT AND NEEDED THAT!!

  24. How cruel of them

I would complain to the hospital if I was you

    xx

  25. sorry but i can see why they did laugh, no offense... but it sounds like the word p***s....

  26. OOOOO bogus.....

  27. Well, to be honest is sounds like someone with a lisp is saying "p***s."

Something you need to consider when he starts school I'm afraid.

Edit:  WAIT, okay, is this supposed to be a joke!?  I haven't had enough caffein today clearly.

  28. horribel name sounds like p***s... he's gonna get mad fun of so bad... sorry but it true
