I was running in a neighborhood with my friends and their brother who is 17. I am 16. I was far behind. When going to cross the street, I was waiting for the police car to drive on, but they didn't, then I kind of walked and then crossed it, but then the car turned and they stopped me. They asked me for my name, height, weight, school I go to, and where I live.

It was like 8:45 this happened. What did I do?!?

They even put me in some handcuffs for a minute. They said there are a lot of bad people and said go home. They can't tell me what I do, or they can?

  1. did  a crime just happen in that area? perhaps you matched the description of one of the suspects?

and why you running especially if you saw a police car (it makes

you look suspicious if you see a police car and start running off from the police officer this gives some cause to find out why you were running

  2. The people who posted here are wrong, they are not mean, and  you did nothing. (If everything you posted here is true) They could have thought you did something, or mabye you look like somone theyre looking for, which is why they asked you the questions.

  3. They have nothing better to do. i would have told them off.

  4. What exactly were you doing with the friends?

Edit: It could be they were looking for another bunch of kids...but if what you say is true, them slapping the cuffs on you, even for a minute, was illegal.

  5. They hate teens. Happens to me alot, next time tell them off.

  6. You went toe to toe with the law for being a kid and convenient. That's all. Its not probable cause by a long-shot and cuffing you was stupid. All it does is prove that as police officers THEY can't be trusted. This is something that breaks the bonds of the public trust.

Police who stop, and cuff, people for no reason at all, are just as dirty as the thugs they're supposed to be out busting.

Hassling citizens sends across the wrong message.

Of course you could be lying and they might have been responding to a crime scene and thought you were acting suspicious. But then again its your word against theres isn't it?

For your sake, I hope the cops were wrong.

  7. police are the same people that are bullies in school, you don't ask why did he pick on me and take my lunch money do you

  8. Do you live in a bad area? Perhaps they're just suspicious of everybody...
